Isopod identification

I have 40+ years experience at identifying isopods from many environments. The identifications often result in scientific publications. Contracts can be arranged based on estimated specimen numbers

 Accomplishments

   Marine

  • Deep-sea isopods collected by Robert R. Hessler and colleagues, which amounts to more than 70,000 individuals from all depths of the Altantic Ocean and Weddell Sea. This collection has resulted in many publications.

  • Isopods from the Gulf of Mexico collected by Willis & Linda Pecquegnat, and by Gilbert Rowe and colleagues. This fauna has more than 156 species.

  • Isopods associated with marine plants in Eastern Australia

  • The Isopod fauna of the Central Pacific manganese nodule provinces.

  • Benthic isopods of the Arafura Sea north of Australia.

   Fresh Water

  • Complete re-organization and modernization of the systematics of the Phreatoicidea; (Isopoda); several new freshwater families described (Ponderellidae; Tainisopidae)

  • Broad ranging field work in Australia, with remote freshwater sites visited in all states

  • Global reassessment of freshwater isopod diversity

  • Surveys of Fresh water isopods in Michigan
